Conduct a free Kansas probation search to find out if someone you know is under supervision. Probation is distinct from parole in that it is only available for minor offenses and offered instead of a jail sentence rather than an early release from incarceration.
Probation records are available to the public, though knowing where to look is crucial for a seamless retrieval.
This resource compiles the available custodians and links to their online tools where probation information can be found and, to some extent, those on parole throughout Kansas.
Perform a Free Kansas Probation Search To View Records & Statuses
Kansas Department of Corrections offers an inmate locator tool that also includes those released on parole and on community corrections. Community correction is the term used for those sentenced to probation instead of prison time.
The Kansas Adult Supervised Population Electronic Repository (KASPER) contains information about offenders under custody or on probation.1
To find out about a specific probationer, queries can use the last name, first name, Social Security number and other information to narrow down the number of results. Search results will provide information about convictions and where someone is being monitored as part of their Community Correction agreement.
For more information, reach out to the Kansas Department of Corrections by phone at (785)-296-3317 or send an email at KDOC_Pub@ks.gov or visit the department in person to the below address:

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation offers criminal history information and is a good source for older cases where the probationer has already completed their supervisory period.
Those who violate the terms of their probation may wind up on fugitive lists and spend time in jail. Violators can be immediately jailed, and the terms of the probation agreement voided.
If you’re wondering if a defendant was offered probation, you can check that by doing a Criminal History Record Check. The information is protected by the Freedom of Information Act and available to the public.
District courts in Kansas all have a public access terminal that you can use to search for case information. You can also use the eCourts Public Portal, but some information is only available through the court terminals.2
It’s also important to remember that not all cases are available to the public. If a case is sealed, involves a minor or has a grand jury, it won’t be available from either source.
You can run a probation search in Kansas on the District Court Public Access Portal with just a name, or even part of a name.
Input at least the first three letters of the last name followed by an asterisk and the first letter of the first name followed by an asterisk to get all records that match. You can then filter your search by location, attorney name, nickname, date of birth, case type and dozens of other options, all designed to help you find the exact case you’re seeking.

Access KS Probation Violations & Contact Supervising Officers
Probation violations can include anything from a few missed check-ins to more serious violations such as a missed court date. If you know someone on probation who isn’t meeting the terms of their agreement, you may want to report the dangerous activity to their probation officer.
The easiest way to make a report is often through a tip line. For the state, that number is +1-800-KS-CRIME.
If you want to report a violation directly to someone’s probation officer, you can get that contact information by going through your local community corrections office. Court Services at the closest District Court may also be able to connect you with the supervising officer.8
A standard probation search using the Kansas Adult Supervised Population Electronic Repository (KASPER) can also reveal probation violations. Follow the steps provided above to begin the search.
To find out if someone has already violated their probation agreement, researchers can run a criminal history check through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Running this search requires users to sign up for a KanAccess account and costs $20 for each record check. Once account setup is complete, users can sign in and get started.
The Kansas Attorney General also posts law enforcement alerts, including wanted lists from specific counties.
Absconders, those who have stopped making their mandatory check-ins with their probation officer, are on these lists.
How To Find Information About Parolees in Kansas
Parolees, those released from their jail sentences before serving their full prison term, are common; many people get out early and undergo monitoring for a set period as they integrate back into the community. Reintegration takes time and lots of support, which parole services often offer.
If you want to locate details of a Kansas parolee, you would need to contact the relevant parole office in charge of that prisoner’s early release.10 If you know the person’s address, it can help you narrow down which parole office to contact first. In the table below are parole offices you might need to contact to track down a recently released loved one:

Parole offices will likely need permission from the offender to release address information, but there are alternative options that may provide information without the wait time.
A District Court Record Search can reveal their last known address, while a criminal history check through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation may also include contact information.11
A probation search won’t provide information about parolees, but parole offices often have information about both release programs.
Running a Kansas probation search can provide valuable insights, but it’s essential to use the information responsibly and within the confines of the law; perform a KS arrest and criminal history lookup for additional insights into anyone statewide.
